frees the mind like a good cup of coffee

Hello, my name is Tiago Cunha.
I’m a technology integration specialist, design thinking and humanities teacher at Sant’Anna International School.

about me

My mission is to make learning meaningful through project-based learning and the use of technology to spark students’ curiosity for their own learning.

Hi there! This is just a little bit about who I am!

I currently live in Louveira – SP, a city of about 60 km from the state capital São Paulo. I moved in from the United States in 2007. In 2012 I got married to my beautiful wife Roberta and we currently have a 5-year old son name Rafael.

My philosophy of education is to lead students to become lifelong learners, preparing them for the challenges ahead, in a friendly and yet challenging environment that motivates them to find their full potential. In my classroom, I want students to have the liberty that allows for expression and innovation, using their creativity to come up with solutions to real-world problems and move forward into the 21st century.

It is my goal to combine my range of experience and my abilities to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent team member who will make a positive contribution to the school and its community.

my experience

Sant’Anna International School

Technology Integration Specialist and Teacher

JANUARY 2008 – Present,  VINHEDO, SP – Brazil

Over these 11 years I have worked with teachers from different school segments to enhance technology integration within the school curriculum, including peer training, instructional design, and preparation for Google certifications.  I was also directly responsible for Sant’Anna’s certification as one of the 23 Reference Schools in Brazil.

In Middle School, I taught Geography, Social Studies, and later implemented Design Thinking as a subject, transforming the old technology course into an engaging real-world problem-solving experience for students.

During my stay at Sant’Anna, I acted as a member of the school improvement committee, NWEA Map and WrAP coordinator, and was part of the leadership team during two successful AdvancED Accreditation visits.

United States Navy

During my naval career I served in multiple deployments to various regions of the globe as a leading investigator, flight deck crewman, and master helmsman. Design Passion Projects

In Middle School, students from Design Thinking are working with their final semester projects. These projects have two main objectives: help solve a problem in their community and also develop a skill that they are interested in and love.

Final projects will be presented to parents during the last parent-teacher conference of the semester as a showcase of solutions.

Immigration Flows

Also in Middle School, Geography students are researching about immigration flows and relating it to Fake News circulating online. How much of it is true? Can we trust everything that we read and find online?

The objective of this project is to develop empathy and understand the true reason behind the world’s largest immigration flows and how could we help those in need.

Personal Branding & Podcasts

Digital Arts students in High School are developing their own personal brands and also developing communication techniques to create a positive and reliable image both online and offline.

The materials being developed include, logos, identity systems, websites, videos, social media profiles, and even podcasts.
